Hope everyone’s having a good Wednesday, half way through the week already. Happy Hump Day!
Recently I seen that L’Oréal’s Infallible Mattifying Base primer and their Infallible 24H-Matte foundation was on offer in Sam McCauley’s for €8.03 each (very precise!). So, of course I couldn’t leave them behind. So I tried and tested both and here’s what I thought! 🙂
For the past while, I’ve been using Estée Lauder Double Wear foundation, which I absolutely LOVE, (you can check out that review here if you like!) but I came to the sad realisation that I’m a student that literally can not afford to wear Estée every day! More reasonable priced foundations can seem to make my skin break out, so then began the search for a reasonably priced every day foundation!
I’ve also been neglecting my need for a new primer.
Hearing great things about this particular L’Oréal foundation, as well as finding it on offer along with the primer, I had to give them both a go. Great timing 🙂
I’l start off with the primer. Surely most of us know the brilliance of a good primer. Prepares your skin for foundation, helps keep your makeup in place, makes your skin silky smooth, just to mention a few!
I’m terrible for skipping primer. If I have one I’ll use it, but I never usually run out to buy a new one straight after mine is gone. The Infallible Mattifying Primer is a silicone based primer which claims to smooth, prepare and mattify the skin, as well as minimising pores.
Using the ‘less is more’ rule I spread the primer evenly over my skin and my first impressions were simply wow. It glides on so smoothly onto the skin and literally leaves your skin feeling super soft. Leaving the primer to set for a couple of minutes, I then applied my foundation.
I have quite large pores around my cheeks near my nose and I definitely noticed a difference using this primer, it clearly reduced the size of them, which of course I was happy with!
I’m addicted to setting spray, so I said I’d go a couple of days with out to see how well the primer made my makeup last and it did a great job. Not as well as it would using setting spray along with the primer, but I was happy with the results. Using the primer, my makeup stayed put a lot better than usual.
I would definitely buy this primer again. I think it retails normally €12, it’s so worth the buy. Now, onto Infallible 24H-Matte Foundation.
Like I’ve said, I heard great things about this, so I was hoping it would give up to the hype! Especially that my skin can be quite oily in some places.
Just from the name, it’s promising to mattify the skin with long lasting results.
I have to say it, I have fallen in love with this foundation! I’d almost say it’s a good dupe for Estée Lauder Double Wear (and at a fraction of the price).
I picked out shade 13 Rose Beige and the colour is just perfect. It’s so easy to apply and doesn’t seem to stick to the skin the way that some matte foundations do. It gives a gorgeous matte finish but not in a way that it looks like you’re wearing a mask! I sometimes have to apply powder just to the oily parts of my skin through out the day but this really wasn’t needed with this foundation.
I don’t know about it lasting 24hours (who needs a full face of makeup on for 24hours anyway?) but it lasts so well through out the day. It has medium coverage and it’s quite build-able which is also an advantage!
Over all, I would definitely recommend L’Oréal Infallible 24H-Matte foundation, but not if your skin is overly dry! This is now my everyday foundation, I’m saving Ms. Lauder for special occasions 🙂
Has anyone else tried and loved?
Don’t forget I’m also on
